Whitaker & Depp Search for Biggie's Killer in "City of Lies" Trailer

"Who shot Biggie Smalls?" That's the question director Brad Furman is trying to answer in City of Lies, a crime drama in which reporter Jack Jackson (Forest Whitaker) and detective Russell Poole (Johnny Depp) investigate the shocking 1997 murder of hip-hop legend the Notorious B.I.G. As the trailer suggests, the pair are facing an uphill battle against money, corruption, and Depp's narcoleptic performance.

City of Lies is based on the Randall Sullivan book LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur & Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records' Suge Knight, & the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal and is due for theaters September 7. Who knows, maybe Saw Gerrera and J. Sparrow will finally solve this thing.
